It was brought to my attention recently that the CEO of GoDaddy (a domain name registrar and webhosting company) shot an elephant. He killed a critically endangered animal for fun. He then tried to justify it by saying that the elephant was conflicting with the local human population, when we all know that tranquilising the animal and moving her or him to a reserve would be totally out of the question financially for the CEO of a huge corporation. *rolls eyes*
I was horrified. I did a little poking around and it turns out that GoDaddy are also a pretty sexist company, too. Neither of these things thrill me, because I'm an in favour of animal rights and women's rights and not in favour of violence in any form, so I moved my domain names to a different provider and I sent him this email:
'Dear Bob Parsons, I would like you to know that I have transferred all my domains away from godaddy today, because I learned of your recent killing of an elephant. I was disgusted and repelled by this act of violence, cruelty, and environmental damage. I am aware of the flimsy excuses that you used to attempt to justify it and I'm neither impressed nor convinced by them. I will not do business with you again. I will encourage my friends, family, and fellow webdesigners who are your customers to move away from your services, and I will no longer refer people to godaddy, as I used to do. I have moved my domains to another registrar who is more expensive than godaddy, but I'm happy to pay the extra charges. I am horrified and enraged by your actions and appalled that I ever had anything to do with you or your company.'
Here are some links if you'd like more information about the elephant-murdering, women-degrading, questionable activities of Godaddy, or at least its CEO:
