The entire country has been gripped by record bad weather for the last while. One night, there was a lightning and thunder storm, plus hail, plus gale force winds. I felt that this was over-achieving on the part of the weather gods. And since then, there's been snow. Lots of snow. Lots of ice, too. Today I went up to the village to get a part to fix the cooker, and there was a double-decker bus slipping backwards down a hill, and a Guinness lorry overturned. It's most unfortunate. I realise that Scandinavians and other folks who are used to this sort of thing mock us Irish with their monkey pants and would probably be wearing shorts and throwing BBQs in this weather, but still! I had to put on socks! This is unprecedented.
